Privacy policy

Your figures stay on your phone.

Energy Cost Planner has no account, no server and no internet permission. Everything you enter is kept on your device, and a file leaves it only when you export one and share it yourself.

Last updated: 9 October 2026 applies to version 1.0.0

01Who and what this covers

This policy is about the Android app Energy Cost Planner (package name energy.costplanner.app). It describes what the app does with the information you put into it.

There is one contact address for everything, including privacy questions and data requests: [email protected].

02What you enter in the app

The app works on what you type into it. All of it is kept on your device only.

DataWhere it comes fromWhere it is kept
Home profiles: name, type of home, number of people and bedrooms, notesTyped by youOn the device only
Tariffs: optional tariff name, unit rates, standing charge, off-peak hours and note, VAT choiceTyped by youOn the device only
Appliances: name, category, power, hours, days, duty cycle, standby, energy-label figures, months, notesTyped by you, or started from the built-in list of typical valuesOn the device only

Meter readings: date, one or two readings, noteTyped by youOn the device only
Results: kilowatt-hours and costsCalculated on the deviceNot stored separately; worked out again each time they are shown

03What the app never asks for

The app has no account. It asks for no name, e-mail address, postal address, phone number, location or payment details.

It does not know who your energy supplier is unless you write that into a free-text field such as a tariff name or a note. If you do, it stays on the device like everything else.

04Where it is kept, and for how long

  • All your data is one file in the app’s private storage on your device.
  • It is excluded from Android cloud backup, so the system does not copy it to a Google account, and it is not included in a device-to-device transfer.
  • It is kept until you delete it. You can delete single items in the app (with an “Undo” for a few seconds), delete a whole home, use “Delete everything” under More → Export and backup, or uninstall the app.

05What leaves your device

Nothing, unless you export it.

  • PDF report, CSV tables, backup file. These are created on the device when you tap the button and are handed to the Android share sheet. You choose the app that receives the file: mail, a messenger, a cloud drive, a printer. What that app then does with the file is governed by its own policy.
  • Restore. You pick a backup file with the system file picker and the app reads it on the device.

The released app does not hold the Android INTERNET permission. It makes no network requests.

06Third parties

None. The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking, no social log-in, no payment provider and no cloud service.

The app is distributed through Google Play. How Google handles installs and its own diagnostics is covered by Google’s policy, not by this one.

07Permissions

The app asks for no permission that needs your consent: no location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage or notification permission.

Exports go through the share sheet and a backup is opened with the system file picker; neither needs a permission.

09Your data, your requests

Because your data never leaves your device, the developer holds no copy of it. That means we cannot view, export, correct or delete your data for you on request. You have those controls yourself, in the app:

  • See and correct: every entry can be opened and edited.
  • Take a copy: More → Export and backup gives you a PDF report, CSV tables and a backup file.
  • Delete: remove single items or a whole home, use “Delete everything”, or uninstall the app.

If you have a question about any of this, write to [email protected].

10Children

The app is a household budgeting tool for adults and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone.

11About the figures

Results are estimates worked out from your own inputs. They are not bills, not forecasts of your bill and not financial advice.

The app contains no energy prices, price caps, tax rates or supplier data.

12This website and e-mail

This website has no forms and no log-in. Its pages contain no analytics, no advertising scripts and no cookies of ours, and the fonts and images are served from the site itself.

If you e-mail us, we receive your e-mail address and whatever you write, and use them to answer you.

13Changes to this policy

Changes are published on this page with a new date. A new version of the app that changed any of the facts above would also update the Data safety section of its Google Play listing.
